Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD) equips and encourages its students to realize a future beyond what they could ever imagine. Operating 82 campuses serving over 77,600 students annually, the nationally-recognized Skyward FBISD is recognized nationally.
Three new schools were unveiled as part of a bond approved by voters in 2018, including Almeta Crawford High School in Rosharon which boasts a state-of-the-art facility featuring state-of-the-art labs and classrooms as well as collaborative seating areas with risers for collaboration or studying, pro dance studios and state-of-the-art labs for research.
Career and Technical Education
FBISD offers an array of career and technical education programs from architecture to culinary arts, business management to information technology – and more! CTE provides students with an early start towards exploring career options, offering guest speakers, job shadowing, internships and apprenticeships that give hands-on experience. Furthermore, many programs of study allow for them to earn industry recognized certificates or licenses. James Reese Career and Technical Education Center serves students from 11 high schools, providing them access to advanced programs in a state-of-the-art facility. Studies available include Agriculture and Natural Resources, Architecture and Construction, Arts, Audio/Video Technologies and Communications, Culinary Arts, Health Science, Culinary School Education, Industrial Technology Education, Law Enforcement Training and Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Reese Center provides more than classroom instruction – it also boasts Enterprise Learning Labs open to the public that provide valuable real-world experience for its students. They may join student organizations like Business Professionals of America, Future Business Leaders of America, Health Occupations Students of America and Skills USA.
Whole Child Health Initiative
FBISD prides itself on being the state’s most diverse school district and provides holistic health services for its students, helping them fulfill their physical, social and emotional needs and envision futures beyond what is imagined today.
The District offers monthly seminars designed to educate families on the relationship between physical and mental health. Topics may include the benefits of outdoor learning, stress and depression in children and teens, healthy sleep habits and optimal study strategies – these seminars are free of charge and open to the public.
Transforming mental health requires changing government healthcare policy, redefining return on investment, and making it easier for patients to access care they require. Rady Children’s Hospital recently collaborated with the National Alliance for Mental Illness on an initiative called “Integrated Health Therapy”, in which behavioral health therapists are embedded into primary care practices to increase access and outcomes – this model has already been piloted at over 100 pediatric offices nationwide.
Student Recruitment
Student recruitment in higher education can be a complex, multi-dimensional endeavor that demands careful planning. Making an efficient plan will help your institution meet its enrollment goals while making sure your resources are used most efficiently possible.
Visual storytelling and video can be powerful ways of engaging prospects. Randolph-Macon Academy created a prospect’s story video that shares key points about its programs. These videos can then be shared at campus events as well as shared among student ambassadors for additional outreach efforts.
Universities can reach out to prospective students using live chat and conversational email marketing, particularly targeting international and postgraduate students who cannot attend on-campus open days. Reconnecting with MOFU and TOFU prospects is another effective strategy to increase enrollment figures; such leads may have fallen off due to lack of connection, so it is vital that they receive prioritisation.
Extended Day
The FBISD Extended Day Program offers full-day afterschool care and education services to all district students. Registration is now open online through EZChildTrack and fees must be paid upon enrollment.
EDP is offering an ocean-themed spring break program this year that will explore water conservation and natural and man-made disasters, including an oil company simulation where participants clean up an actual oil spill. Field trips will supplement this curriculum.
Child Nutrition will offer grab and go meal service during the schools’ transition to virtual learning, so parents can pick up meals curbside with student ID numbers or sign up with USDA for free meal delivery services. Once instruction resumes in face-to-face format, this program will resume.
